According to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)'s 2024 report, approximately 150 million tonnes of food was wasted globally in 2022 from households, food services, and the retail sector.
While massive amounts of food are wasted worldwide, millions of people are facing hunger on one hand, and on the other, this is putting additional pressure on waste management, climate change, and natural resources such as water and land.
