Weekly Stocks: NEPSE Edges Up, Average Turnover Limited to Rs 3 Billion

The market opened for 5 trading days this week. Of these, the NEPSE was positive on three trading days and closed lower on two trading days. Similarly, this week the Float Index increased by 2.83 points, while the Sensitive Index rose by 0.74 points and the Sensitive Float Index by 1.27 points.
Although the NEPSE rose, the turnover amount decreased this week. Last week, shares worth an average of Rs 4.79 billion were traded daily, while this week, shares worth an average of Rs 3.78 billion were traded daily. Compared to last week, the daily average turnover amount this week is 21.08 percent lower. Likewise, this week the daily average number of shares decreased by 13.93 percent, and the daily average number of transactions decreased by 12.41 percent.
The total market capitalization of NEPSE also increased slightly this week. The total market capitalization, which was Rs 44.50 trillion on the last trading day of last week, increased by about Rs 8 billion this week to reach Rs 44.58 trillion.
Among the 13 sub-groups, four sub-group indices increased this week, while nine sub-group indices decreased. This week, the Banking sub-group index increased the most by 1.52 percent. The sub-group index, which closed at 1494.47 points last week, rose by 22.78 points to reach 1517.25 points this week. In terms of points, the Development Bank sub-group index increased the most this week by 32.16 points.
The index of the other sub-group that came into trading decreased the most by 1.05 percent. The sub-group index, which closed at 1809.49 points last week, fell by 18.95 points to 1790.54 points this week. In terms of points, the Non-Life Insurance sub-group index decreased the most this week by 76.99 points.
