Weekly Share Market: NEPSE Falls by Over 17 Points, Average Turnover Rises
This week, the NEPSE index fell by 17.41 points or 0.66 percent to close at 2629.81 points. Due to public holidays and technical issues, the market opened for only three days; although it rose on two days, a sharp decline on one day made the overall week negative. However, the daily average turnover increased by 2.65 percent to Rs 6.28 billion.
This week, the NEPSE index closed down by about 17 and a half points. Having closed at 2647.22 points last week, the NEPSE index fell by 17.41 points or 0.66 percent to close at 2629.81 points this week.
Due to public holidays and technical issues, the share market opened for only 3 days this week. The market rose on two trading days and fell on one trading day. Since the decline on one day was higher than the gains on two days, the overall market appeared negative this week. This week, the float index fell by 2.06 points, while the sensitive index fell by 1.28 points and the sensitive float index fell by 0.96 points.
Although NEPSE fell, the turnover amount increased this week. Last week, shares worth an average of Rs 6.12 billion were bought and sold daily, while this week, shares worth an average of Rs 6.28 billion were traded daily. Compared to last week, the daily average turnover amount this week is 2.65 percent higher. Similarly, this week, the daily average number of shares increased by 22.98 percent, and the daily average number of transactions increased by 0.34 percent.
This week, the total market capitalization of NEPSE fell by 0.66 percent. The total market capitalization of the share market, which was Rs 45.53 trillion on the last trading day of last week, decreased by Rs 29 billion this week to Rs 45.23 trillion. This week, out of 13 sub-groups, one sub-group's index increased, while 11 sub-groups' indices decreased. Similarly, one sub-group's index remained stable this week. This week, the index of the manufacturing and processing sub-group increased by 1.13 percent. The index of that sub-group, which closed at 10,712.66 points last week, increased by 120.78 points to reach 10,833.44 points this week.
This week, the index of the hydropower sub-group fell the most by 1.68 percent. The index of that sub-group, which closed at 3665.08 points last week, fell by 61.67 points to 3603.41 points this week. In terms of points, the index of the non-life insurance sub-group fell the most by 164.37 points this week.
