Vishwakarma Puja is being celebrated across the country today on Ashwin Sankranti. Artisans, craftsmen, and transport operators are worshipping their vehicles, iron tools, and factories.
Kathmandu. Vishwakarma Puja is being celebrated across the country today on Ashwin Sankranti. Every year on this day, Vishwakarma Puja is observed by worshipping vehicles, metal equipment, and tools used in factories.
Today, artisans are worshipping various iron tools and factories. Likewise, there is a tradition of taking the idol of Vishwakarma to Sundarijal, the source of the Bagmati River, or other holy sites, for immersion.
According to religious belief, worshipping various tools and equipment used by artisans on this day ensures that the tools last longer, do not break during work, and yield better results.
Vishwakarma Baba is regarded as the inspiration behind handicrafts, craftsmanship, weaponry, art, and thousands of material creations. Today, the idol of Vishwakarma Baba is installed and worshipped, and the following day, the idol is ritually immersed in rivers, ponds, and lakes. On this day, vehicles are given special worship.
The 1st of Ashwin, or Kanya Sankranti, is also celebrated as the worship of the learned Shri Vishwakarma Baba, the patron of construction, technology production, and study. On this day, followers of Vedic Sanatan Hindu religion perform worship in honor of Vishwakarma Baba.
