‘Vetra Aeron’ Electric Scooter Launched with Target to Make Five Thousand Self-Employed, Price at Rs 380,000

Kathmandu | Tapainko Bazar has launched the ‘Vetra Aeron’ electric scooter in Nepal for ride-sharing. Launched in collaboration with Vetra Motors Pvt. Ltd., the scooter is priced at Rs 380,000. The company aims to connect 5,000 people to self-employment through this scheme.

The company stated that the scheme was introduced with the objective of making ride-sharing riders owners of their own vehicles rather than providing them with rented vehicles. Under the scheme, riders can take the electric scooter with zero down payment and can acquire ownership of the scooter by paying installments from their daily earnings.

Currently, various companies in the market provide bikes and scooters for rent for ride-sharing at daily rates ranging from Rs 800 to Rs 1,000. Tapainko Bazar said the scheme was introduced with the aim of providing riders the opportunity to become owners of scooters at a similar amount.

The event was graced by the presence of former Executive Director of Nepal Electricity Authority, Kulman Ghising, as the chief guest. Speaking at the event, Ghising said such initiatives would contribute to creating employment and self-employment opportunities within the country along with expanding the use of electric vehicles.

Maya Lama, Chief Executive Officer of Tapainko Bazar, said the scheme with the target of connecting 5,000 people to self-employment was started two years ago. She informed that although the scheme could not be advanced due to various obstacles and hindrances, they have now succeeded in starting the program in collaboration with Best Finance and Yango.

According to Lama, the company plans to develop a separate electric riding ecosystem by increasing the use of electric scooters in the ride-sharing sector. She also informed that applications have been opened for appointing authorized dealers across Nepal.

According to the company, the ‘Vetra Aeron’ claims to provide a range of more than 250 kilometers on a single full charge. The company said the scooter, designed targeting Nepali roads and geography, features 165 mm ground clearance, a 5,000-watt motor, and a 120-ampere capacity LFP battery.

The company says the scooter is particularly suitable for ride-sharing and ride-hailing businesses. Manish Shrestha, Director of Vetra Motors, said the scooter was prepared keeping in mind the uphill and downhill terrains of Nepali roads.

With the aim of providing electric scooters easily to riders, the company said arrangements have been made to provide scooters at zero percent down payment through Tapainko Bazar's office at Panipokhari. Tapainko Bazar and Best Finance have collaborated for this financial facility.

According to Sushil Sangraula, Managing Director of Tapainko Bazar, the company is currently providing financial facilities and sales-distribution of electric vans and electric buses across Nepal. He said the plan to provide electric scooters for ride-sharing is another dimension of the same.

According to the company, the scheme aims to expand the use of electric vehicles as well as create employment and self-employment opportunities in the ride-sharing sector.

The company said facilities related to ‘Vetra Aeron’ can be availed from Tapainko Bazar's showrooms at Panipokhari, Butwal, and Birtamod. To participate in the scheme, riders must submit a national identity card, PAN card, driving license, and photo. Ride-sharing is Vetra Ride Sharing.
