Tribhuvan University donates NPR 92.5 million for flood victims
Tribhuvan University has contributed **NPR 92.5 million** for the rescue, relief, and rehabilitation of those affected by the Bhotekoshi flood. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Bhola Thapa handed over the cheque to Education and Sports Minister Sasmit Pokharel on Wednesday.
Kathmandu. Tribhuvan University has donated NPR 92.5 million for the rescue, relief, and rehabilitation of citizens affected by the devastating flood in the Bhotekoshi River.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Bhola Thapa handed over the cheque for the amount to Education and Sports Minister Sasmit Pokharel at the ministry on Wednesday. According to the university, the amount deducted from the salaries and allowances of officials and employees has been deposited into the Prime Minister's Disaster Relief Fund.
The contribution breakdown is as follows:
- Vice-Chancellor, Rector, and Registrar: one month's salary
- Professors and equivalent administrative staff: amount equal to 10 days of the monthly starting salary scale
- Associate Professors, Deputy Administrators, Section Officers, and Instructors or equivalent teaching staff: remuneration equal to seven days
- Chief Office Assistants and Office Assistants or equivalent staff: remuneration equal to five days
- Non-category staff: remuneration equal to two days
According to Vice-Chancellor Thapa, the amount was contributed with the objective of contributing to relief and rehabilitation efforts after the severe flood caused loss of life and property in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha, and Chitwan, among other areas.
A recent meeting of the university's Executive Council had decided to deduct a certain amount from the remuneration of officials, teachers, and employees of various levels and deposit it into the relief fund.
