Share trading was halted today due to a technical problem in TMS (Trade Management System), which weakened investor morale. Speaking to Arthasarokar on this matter, investor Tilak Koirala said that questions still remain over NEPSE's infrastructure.
According to Koirala, there is still a great need for further investment and development in NEPSE's technology and monitoring. He warned that if investment is not made in technology development and security, problems will continue in the coming days.
He said, "If investment is not made in NEPSE's technology development and security, more problems will arise in the coming days. Work must be done to ensure such problems do not recur in the future."
Likewise, he suggested that each broker should build their own TMS. "If brokers had built their own systems, we would not have faced a situation where the entire trading had to be halted when a problem occurred in one or two of them," he said.
Koirala's suggestion conveys the message that NEPSE's technological infrastructure needs to be strengthened and necessary steps taken to prevent such problems from recurring in the future.
