SEBON Approves Him Parbat Hydropower IPO for Rs 591.5 Million After 170-Day Wait
Nepal's securities regulator has approved Him Parbat Hydropower's Rs 591.5 million IPO, ending a 170-day gap since the last public issue approval. The company, which operates two hydropower projects totaling 25.5 MW, will issue 5.915 million shares managed by Citizens Capital Limited.
The Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) has approved Him Parbat Hydropower Limited to float an initial public offering (IPO) worth Rs 591.5 million, marking the first such approval in roughly six months.
The board's directors cleared the issuance of 5.915 million ordinary shares during a meeting on October 2. Citizens Capital Limited has been appointed as the issue manager for the public offering.
Him Parbat Hydropower had submitted its application for public share issuance on November 20, 2024, and waited approximately 170 days for final regulatory approval. The approval ends a drought in new IPO clearances that stretched back to April 2026, when Everest Color received the last such green light.
The company has satisfied key listing requirements, having completed construction and commenced commercial electricity generation in mid-2025 across two projects:
- Sagu Khola-1 (5.5 MW)
- Sagu Khola (20 MW)
Together, the two projects represent 25.5 MW of installed capacity. Him Parbat also met standard financial criteria by maintaining a net worth above Rs 100 per share.
SEBON Chairman Dr. Gopal Prasad Bhatta had recently indicated that multiple companies might receive approval before Ashwin 15. However, as of Ashwin 20, only one company has been approved, suggesting that the regulator's approval pipeline remains slower than anticipated.
