Kathmandu – Prabhu Bank's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Suman Sharma has been revealed to have had the bank's Human Resources (HR) department write a 12-day 'force leave' email while he appeared in Parsa District Court. Sharma had HR write an email stating that the CEO was on forced leave for 12 days, while he went to Parsa to appear in court.
A fraud case has been filed against him in Parsa. An arrest warrant had been issued against him before the case was filed. Despite the arrest warrant, he continued working at the bank. Bank spokesperson Rabindra Dhakal said that Sharma, who went to Parsa on Wednesday claiming to be on forced leave, was in the office on Tuesday. Questions have also been raised as to why the police did not arrest him while he was in the office.
The case of fraud and criminal breach of trust was filed in Parsa District Court on the allegation that Sharma, while at the then Sunrise Bank, did not disburse the approved loan amount to Anjali International. According to Prabhu's employee regulations, he is automatically suspended upon the filing of a criminal case.
