Oli Urges Journalists to Seek Permission Before Asking Questions
**KP Sharma Oli**, Chairman of the **CPN-UML**, has stated that journalists should seek permission before asking questions and inform the concerned person before publishing. Claiming international practice, he urged not to thrust microphones into his mouth.
Kathmandu. Former Prime Minister and Chairman of the CPN-UML, KP Sharma Oli, has said that journalists should pay attention to journalistic dignity and practice when asking questions.
Speaking to reporters after exiting the meeting of the CPN-UML Election Review and Restructuring Task Force at the party central office in Chyasal on Sunday, Oli said that permission should be taken before asking questions and the concerned person should be informed before publishing.
He claimed that in international journalistic practice, journalists ask the person whether they can ask a question before doing so, and also inform them before publishing an interview or statement.
Oli said, "What is the rule of journalism worldwide? It is asked beforehand whether you can ask a question. After asking the question, before publishing it, it is asked, 'We are going to publish what you said, shall we?' You should not bring it and thrust it into the mouth, poke it into the mouth. Do not do that. Do not do that."
He urged journalists not to bring the microphone forward and ask questions without permission.
