NPR 4.60 Billion Investment Raised for 22.5 MW Jaldigad Hydropower Project

An investment of NPR 4.60 billion has been raised for the 22.50 MW Jaldigad Hydropower Project to be constructed in Aathbiskot Municipality, Rukum West.

In the project promoted by Sangrila Hydropower Pvt. Ltd., Rastriya Banijya Bank along with Nepal Bank and Nepal Infrastructure Bank (NIFRA) will jointly provide NPR 3.36 billion in debt financing under the leadership of Rastriya Banijya Bank. The remaining NPR 1.2371 billion will be promoter equity.

The financial management agreement for the project was signed by Khagendra Neupane, Chairman of Sangrila Hydropower, and Devendra Raman Khanal, Chief Executive Officer of Rastriya Banijya Bank. Representatives from Nepal Bank and NIFRA were also present at the agreement ceremony.

The project, to be built on the Jaldigad River, is projected to generate 133.45 gigawatt-hours of electricity annually. The construction period has been set at 33 months.

Most preliminary works, including land acquisition, have already been completed. With financial management now finalized, construction work will be accelerated, according to Krishna Prasad Ghimire, Managing Director of the company.

The group promoting the Jaldigad project has previously built and operated the 4.55 MW Vikas Hydropower project in Gorkha. The company completed that project about 6 months ahead of schedule. Vikas Hydropower has also issued an IPO for general investors.

Similarly, the same group is constructing the 4.6 MW Budhigandaki Hydropower project in Gorkha, which is targeted to generate electricity within the next 6 months.

Thus, as the experienced group is building the 22.50 MW Jaldigad project, it is believed that this project will also be completed on time.
