NEPSE system suspected hacked, Monday's trading halted
Trading on the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) was suspended on Monday after a technical problem in its data hub. Technical analysts claim that NEPSE's system was hacked and that the details of millions of investors were accessed by hackers.
Kathmandu. On the first trading day of the week, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) remained closed. NEPSE suspended the entire day's trading after the data hub containing the details of millions of investors was hacked.
Issuing a notice, NEPSE stated that a technical problem occurred in the data hub, the data center where the servers of its 72 broker company members are kept. NEPSE said it had to suspend Monday's trading because it could not resolve the problem and that continuing trading under the circumstances could also damage NEPSE's trading system.
However, no matter how much NEPSE tries to deflect, technical analysts claim that NEPSE's system was hacked on Monday. Even NEPSE employees themselves have said that the problem appeared after hackers gained access to the system. Analysts even claim that the trading details of millions of share investors were also accessed by hackers.
