NEPSE rises 87 points this week, turnover improves

Kathmandu. This week, the NEPSE index rose by 87.73 points to close at 2647.22 points. Although some fluctuations were seen at the beginning of the week, the market gained positive momentum towards the end. After the government published a 21-point action plan for capital market reform, enthusiasm was seen among investors.

Out of the five trading days in the week, NEPSE increased on four days and decreased on one day. The last trading day of the previous week, Friday, NEPSE had closed at 2559.49 points. On the last trading day of this week, Friday, NEPSE rose by 22.85 points to reach 2647.22 points.

On the first trading day of the week, Monday, NEPSE had increased by 25.55 points. After the government published the 21-point action plan for capital market strengthening and revival on Tuesday, additional enthusiasm was seen in the market, and NEPSE rose by 48.57 points to reach 2633.62 points.

However, after two consecutive days of gains, a correction was seen in the market on Wednesday. That day, NEPSE fell by 21.19 points to 2612.42 points. On Thursday, NEPSE again rose by 11.93 points to reach 2624.36 points. On Friday, with a gain of 22.85 points, the market closed at 2647.22 points.

Turnover also showed improvement towards the end of the week.

• Monday: Rs 4.68 billion 86 million
• Tuesday: Rs 8.29 billion (highest in two months)
• Wednesday: Rs 5.38 billion 95 million
• Thursday: Rs 5.49 billion 93 million
• Friday: Rs 6.74 billion 56 million

Earlier, on Baisakh 2, transactions worth Rs 10.53 billion had taken place, while on Asar 30, transactions worth Rs 8.41 billion had taken place. This Tuesday, turnover exceeded Rs 8 billion.

On Friday, shares of 345 companies — 2 million 127 thousand 761 shares — were traded 64 thousand 72 times.
