NEPSE Resumes Share Trading After Data Center Fix
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) will resume regular share trading today, September 22, after a technical issue at its data center was resolved. Trading had been suspended on September 21, prompting the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) to launch an investigation and dispatch an inspection team.
KATHMANDU, Sept 22 — Regular share trading at the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) will resume today after the technical issue at the data center serving its 72 trading members was resolved.
NEPSE Information Officer Murahari Parajuli said trading would resume as usual from today, September 22, after NEPSE received confirmation that the technical issue at Data Hub Pvt. Ltd., the data center for trading members, had been resolved.
NEPSE had suspended regular trading on September 21 following a technical problem at the data center. Trading was halted because continuing operations without resolving the problem could have risked damaging NEPSE's trading system.
The Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) had also instructed NEPSE to study and investigate the issue that led to the suspension. The board directed NEPSE to submit a report with necessary corrective measures to prevent such incidents in the future. It has also dispatched a five-member inspection team led by its deputy executive director.
Although trading will resume today following the resolution of the technical issue at the data center, the technical cause of the incident and the associated systemic risk have yet to be identified.
