NEPSE Edges Up 7.06 Points as Daily Turnover Hits One-Week High of Rs 7 Billion
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index rose 7.06 points to close at 2,654.28 on Tuesday, with daily turnover reaching a one-week high of Rs 7.05 billion. Gains were led by Mid Solu Hydropower, while Snow Rivers saw the steepest decline.
KATHMANDU, Sept 22 — The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index edged up 7.06 points to close at 2,654.28 points on Tuesday, as daily turnover climbed to a one-week high of Rs 7.05 billion.
The gain followed technical glitches that disrupted the secondary market's trading platform on Monday. During Tuesday's session, the index swung between a low of 2,638.93 points and a high of 2,662.72 points within the first hour of trading.
Market breadth was mixed, with advancers slightly outpacing decliners:
- 137 companies advanced
- 131 companies declined
- 11 companies remained unchanged
Mid Solu Hydropower led the gainers with a 14.99 percent rise in its share price, followed by First Microfinance, which gained 7.75 percent.
On the losing side, Snow Rivers recorded the steepest decline, falling 8.23 percent, while Narayani Development Bank dropped 6.96 percent.
Hathway Investment topped the turnover chart with shares worth Rs 444.04 million traded, followed by Himalayan Distillery at Rs 403.6 million.
Among the 13 sectoral indices traded on Tuesday, seven advanced while six declined. The 'Others' sector index posted the strongest gain, rising 1.36 percent, whereas the 'Trading' index fell the most, down 0.93 percent.
