NEPSE Edges Up 0.18% in a Week, Investors Gain Rs 8 Billion
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) rose marginally by 4.55 points (0.18%) last week, ending a four-week losing streak. Despite the modest gain, average daily turnover fell 21.08% to Rs 3.787 billion, while market capitalization increased slightly, adding Rs 8 billion to investor wealth.
KATHMANDU, Oct 10 — The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) last week increased marginally by 4.55 points (0.18 percent) amid selling pressure with the festivals round the corner.
The secondary market opened for trading at 2,587.25 points and closed at 2,591.80 points. After going down for four consecutive weeks, the market index inclined nominal points. During the period, the market rose as high as 2,591.85 points and fell as low as 2,557.30 points, marking the volatility of 34.55 points.
During the review period, the market index inclined for three days, with the index increasing by the largest of 17.15 points on Friday. In two days of decline, the market index went down by the largest of 20.48 points on Monday.
Sector-wise, four groups were the gainers, as the development bank index soared by 32.16 points. Percentage-wise, the banking surged 1.52 percent, the highest of all. Of the nine losers, non-life insurance plunged 76.99 points.
Among the individual companies, share price of Kutheli Bukhari Small Hydropower gained 20.35 percent. Ridge Line Energy’s price dropped the most by 8.86 percent.
The average daily turnover decreased to Rs 3.787 billion from Rs 4.798 billion, marking a slump of 21.08 percent. Market capitalization increased nominally to Rs 4.458 trillion from Rs 4.450 trillion, making the investors gain by Rs 8 billion. In the previous week, the investors had lost Rs 73 billion.
