NEPSE Drops 20 Points on First Trading Day of Week; Shares of 242 Companies Decline
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index dropped by 20.48 points to close at 2,566 points on the first trading day of the week. Amid a bearish trend, share prices of 242 companies declined, while total turnover exceeded NPR 3.27 billion.
The stock market witnessed a double-digit decline on the first trading day of the week. The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index dropped by 20.48 points to close at 2,566 points. Out of the companies traded today, share prices of 242 companies declined, while only 32 companies recorded gains.
A total turnover of over NPR 3.27 billion was achieved, with 9,003,000 shares of 359 companies traded throughout the day. In terms of turnover volume, Ghalemdi Hydro Limited topped the list with transactions worth NPR 228.6 million.
Other top-traded companies included:
- Hathway Investment: NPR 84.9 million
- Shivam Cements: NPR 84.3 million
Debenture and mutual fund unit holders were the top gainers in today's market. Standard Chartered Bank Debenture unit holders earned the highest return at 5.75%. Similarly, unit holders of Nepal SBI Bank Debenture and Global IME Sammunnat Scheme-1 gained 4.98% each.
On the flip side, investors in Trishuli Jalavidhyut Company suffered the biggest loss, with its stock price dropping by 5.84%.
