NEPSE Climbs 17.15 Points Ahead of Dashain as Turnover Hits Rs 4.84 Billion
Nepal's stock market ended the trading week on a positive note, with the NEPSE index rising 17.15 points to 2,591.80 ahead of the Dashain festival. Market turnover surged by approximately Rs 900 million to Rs 4.84 billion, with all 13 sectoral indices closing higher.
KATHMANDU, Oct 9 — Nepal's stock market closed the trading week on a positive note on Friday, with the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index rising 17.15 points to 2,591.80 ahead of Dashain.
The Sensitive Index gained 3.80 points, the Float Index rose 1.42 points, and the Sensitive Float Index increased 1.50 points.
Market turnover also increased by around Rs 900 million compared with Thursday. Shares worth Rs 4.84 billion were traded on Friday, up from Rs 3.93 billion the previous day.
A total of 12.91 million shares of 353 companies changed hands in 52,044 transactions.
Kutheli Bukhari Small Hydropower recorded the highest share-price gain, rising 4.91 percent. Sindhu Bikas Bank and Solu Hydropower each gained around 4 percent, while Ridge Line Energy suffered the biggest decline, falling 7.85 percent.
Kumari Bank led turnover with shares worth Rs 211.1 million traded. Ghalemdi Hydro followed with Rs 200 million, while Himalayan Distillery recorded turnover of Rs 190 million.
All 13 sectoral indices closed higher. The banking sector posted the largest gain, rising 1.28 percent, while the hotels and tourism sector advanced by nearly 1 percent.
