NEPSE Climbs 11.77 Points to 2,629.81 as Turnover Slips to Rs 5.44 Billion
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index gained 11.77 points on Thursday to close at 2,629.81, buoyed by gains in most sectoral sub-indices. However, market turnover fell to Rs 5.44 billion from Rs 6.35 billion a day earlier, with Shivam Cement leading in traded value.
KATHMANDU, Sept 25 — The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index rose 11.77 points to close at 2,629.81 on Thursday, with share prices of 176 companies advancing.
Most sectoral sub-indices ended in positive territory, with the exception of non-life insurance, lifting the broader market. The manufacturing and processing sub-index posted the strongest gain, up 1.83 percent.
Nepal Lube Oil recorded the biggest single-stock increase, climbing 12.47 percent.
Despite the index's rise, overall market turnover declined. Shares worth Rs 5.44 billion changed hands on Thursday, down from Rs 6.35 billion on Wednesday.
Shivam Cement topped the turnover chart at Rs 358.1 million, followed by:
- Himalayan Distillery — Rs 351.6 million
- Sanima Middle Tamor Hydropower — Rs 243.5 million
On the losing side, share prices of 95 companies fell, with Mid Solu Hydropower posting the steepest decline of 11.58 percent.
