Nepal Rastra Bank to Absorb Rs. 70 Billion in 61-Day Deposit Auction Today
Nepal Rastra Bank will collect Rs. 70 billion in deposits from licensed banks and financial institutions through a 61-day auction today to manage excess liquidity. The bidding, conducted via the Online Bidding System at 3 PM, will determine the interest rate, with deposits maturing on Mangsir 23, 2083 (December 9, 2026).
Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has announced it will absorb Rs. 70 billion in deposits from banks and financial institutions through a bidding process today, aiming to manage excess liquidity in the market.
According to a notice published today, the central bank will collect the deposits for a period of 61 days. The bidding will take place on Ashwin 23 (October 9) through the Online Bidding System at 3 PM.
The interest rate will be determined through the bidding process. Key bidding parameters include:
- Minimum bid amount: Rs. 10 crore
- Maximum limit: In multiples of Rs. 5 crore, up to the total issue amount
- Institutions may submit multiple bids within the total announced amount
Only licensed 'A', 'B', and 'C' class banks and financial institutions approved by NRB are eligible to participate in the bidding. The deposits collected will be returned along with interest on Mangsir 23, 2083 (December 9, 2026).
