Nepal PM's Disaster Relief Funds Reach Rs 16.15 Billion After Bhote Koshi Floods
Following the devastating Bhote Koshi River floods in Rasuwa on August 26, Nepal's Prime Minister's Natural Disaster Rescue Fund and Relief Fund have accumulated Rs 16.15 billion. Of this, Rs 12.05 billion is held across nine commercial banks, while USD 27.1 million sits in US dollar accounts at Himalayan Bank and Laxmi Sunrise Bank. The government has already disbursed Rs 1 billion for flood and landslide relief.
Financial contributions continue to pour into Nepal's Prime Minister's Natural Disaster Rescue Fund and Prime Minister's Relief Fund following the devastating floods in the Bhote Koshi River in Rasuwa on August 26.
According to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the total balance in the funds has reached Rs 16.15 billion. Of this, approximately Rs 12.05 billion is held in the Prime Minister's Natural Disaster Rescue Fund across nine commercial banks.
Meanwhile, US dollar accounts maintained at Himalayan Bank and Laxmi Sunrise Bank hold a combined balance of approximately USD 27.1 million.
The government has already released Rs 1 billion from the accumulated funds to provide assistance to areas affected by the floods and landslides.
