Kathmandu. After Insurance News published a news report that Nepal Life Insurance CEO Pravin Raman Parajuli made false claims about insurance claim payments in a video message, the company has removed the video from its official TikTok ID [email protected].
In the video, CEO Parajuli claimed that Nepal Life Insurance had paid a total of 122 trillion rupees in claims over 25 years, including maturity, survival benefits, and death claims. In the 1 minute 26 second long video, he not only gave false figures for total claim payments but also provided misleading information about the amount paid for death claims. He stated that the company had paid 934 billion in death claims.
Immediately after Insurance News published the news about CEO Parajuli giving false information, the company deleted the video from its TikTok account. However, we have the link to the video downloaded from the company's TikTok account available here: https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSbmhLSVo/
Sushildev Subedi, Executive Director of the Nepal Insurance Authority, responded that based on evidence, CEO Parajuli will be asked for clarification regarding the publication of misleading information, and legal action will be taken according to the law.
After life insurance agents increasingly sold life insurance policies by providing misleading and false information to the general public through social media, the Authority had issued a collective directive to all insurance agents on Bhadra 8 with a warning to take action against agents involved in activities contrary to the code of conduct. Nepal Life Insurance published this warning directive with priority on its website.
This time, agents are waiting for the Authority's action against Nepal Life CEO Parajuli himself for publicly releasing false information about the company through official social media.
