Nepal Approves Rs 1.5 Billion Subsidy for Sugarcane Farmers
Agriculture Minister Gita Chaudhary has approved the distribution of over Rs 1.5 billion in incentive subsidies to sugarcane farmers for the current fiscal year 2083/84. The funds will be allocated across key sugarcane-producing districts, with farmers receiving Rs 70 per quintal under the program.
KATHMANDU, Oct 9 — Minister for Agriculture, Forests and Environment Gita Chaudhary has approved the distribution of more than Rs 1.5 billion in subsidies to sugarcane farmers.
Chaudhary approved the procedure governing the distribution of incentive subsidies provided to sugarcane producers.
A total of Rs 1.5005 billion allocated for the current fiscal year 2083/84 will be distributed among sugarcane farmers in various districts, including:
- Bardiya
- Rautahat
- Kailali
- Kanchanpur
The government has been implementing the subsidy program to encourage sugarcane cultivation, increase agricultural productivity and ensure that financial support reaches eligible farmers effectively.
Under the program, the government provides sugarcane farmers with an incentive subsidy of Rs 70 per quintal.
