Kathmandu — National Science Day is being celebrated today. The slogan for this year's day has been set as 'Science and Technology: Development and Production Growth'.
The government began observing National Science Day from 1 Ashoj 2070 BS. The coalition government formed under the leadership of then Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai decided in 2069 BS to observe this day from 2070 BS.
The day has several specified objectives:
- To mobilize individuals and institutions from all classes, communities, and professional sectors of the country to contribute to the field of science and technology
- To raise public awareness on science and technology issues
- To create a situation where everyone from policymakers to the general public plays an active role in this process
- To carry out awareness-oriented and campaign-driven work
