NADA asks flood-affected auto businesses for damage details
After massive damage to the automobile sector from the Bhotekoshi flood and inundation, the NADA Automobiles Association of Nepal has demanded accurate and verified damage details from affected businesses and member companies. NADA has started coordination with government agencies, insurance companies, banks, and customs offices to facilitate relief and support.
Kathmandu. After the automobile sector suffered massive damage from the flood and inundation in the Bhotekoshi area, the NADA Automobiles Association of Nepal has demanded accurate and verified damage details from affected businesses and member companies.
NADA said it has been receiving information that imported vehicles at customs points and various locations have been damaged, some vehicles are missing, and warehouses, offices, equipment, and other business properties of traders have been damaged due to the flood and inundation.
With the objective of providing necessary facilitation and coordination to affected businesses and members, NADA said it has started necessary initiatives with relevant government agencies, insurance companies, banks and financial institutions, customs offices, and other stakeholders.
NADA has requested affected member companies to provide accurate and verified details of their damage to the secretariat. According to NADA, the damage details must include the following:
- Vehicles damaged by flood and inundation
- Missing or out-of-contact vehicles
- Location of vehicles and relevant customs point
- Number, type, and available identification details of vehicles
- Damage to warehouses, offices, and other physical structures
- Insured property and vehicles
- Documents and details required for insurance claims
- Details related to loans taken from banks and financial institutions
- Details of other direct business losses
NADA said it will carry out necessary coordination and facilitation with relevant agencies based on the received details. NADA said it will collect and document comprehensive details of damage in the automobile sector and coordinate with relevant insurance companies to make the insurance claim process quick and easy.
NADA also plans to coordinate with relevant customs offices for the identification and necessary procedures of missing or damaged vehicles at customs points.
NADA said it will coordinate with relevant agencies regarding restructuring of loans taken by affected businesses from banks and financial institutions, review of repayment periods, or other possible facilitation.
NADA stated it will present a comprehensive report of the damage suffered by the automobile sector to the government and relevant stakeholders and advocate for necessary relief, facilitation, and policy response.
To make this work systematic and effective, NADA said it will form a coordination and facilitation committee as needed to bring the problems of affected members to the relevant agencies and take necessary initiatives for resolution.
