Multi-Level Scam Operation Under 'BV Nepal': Active Network Cheating Thousands Without an Office
An online Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) scheme operating under 'BV Nepal' and registered as 'Starbucks Vending Creative Marketing' has been exposed for defrauding thousands of citizens. Nepal Police's Cyber Bureau has issued a public alert regarding the group, which has been collecting between NPR 12,900 and NPR 5,000,000 under the guise of vending machine returns.
An online network operating as 'BV Nepal' and registered with the Office of the Company Registrar under the name Starbucks Vending Creative Marketing has been found collecting millions of rupees from the public. The racket has been targeting rural citizens, unemployed youth, students, and housewives with misleading promises of passive daily returns.
According to company agent Padam Sharma, the scheme claimed to import unmanned vending machines from abroad to operate automated shops and distribute profits to investors. However, despite listing an address in Gongabu (Tokha), Kathmandu, no industry, shop, or official office exists at the site. Employees and agents themselves do not know the head office's location, with all communication controlled by foreign administrators via WhatsApp.
Key features and operational methods of the scheme include:
- Collection Range: Investment amounts collected range from a minimum of NPR 12,900 to NPR 5,000,000.
- Target Demographics: Unemployed youth, students, housewives, and unsuspecting rural residents.
- Claimed Membership: According to agent Sharma, the network claims to have reached approximately 800,000 members.
- Trust-Building Tactics: Staging social work initiatives, such as distributing school uniforms and honoring local social leaders, to win public confidence.
While the scheme initially distributed small payouts of NPR 200–400 per day to gain trust, investors have recently stopped receiving payments. Meanwhile, the Cyber Bureau of Nepal Police issued a public notice on Saun 28 confirming 'BV Nepal' as an illegal online Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) scam and urged the public to refrain from investing.
