LP Gas Industry Association urges gas sale at previous prices
The Nepal LP Gas Industry Association has urged its sellers to distribute LP gas at previous prices in the Kathmandu Valley starting Friday. The association's directive comes after the Prithvi Highway was reopened, removing the need for alternative routes that had increased transportation costs.
Kathmandu. The Nepal LP Gas Industry Association has urged sellers to distribute gas at previous prices starting Friday.
In a statement issued today, the association requested all gas industries marketing LP gas in the Kathmandu Valley to distribute gas at no more than NPR 2,060 per cylinder as set by Nepal Oil Corporation and to inform their respective sellers.
Earlier, on August 30, a massive flood in the Trishuli River at the Krishnabhir area eroded a section of the Prithvi Highway, blocking the road. Subsequently, gas industries operating in the Kathmandu Valley had been refilling cylinders at gas industries in Makwanpur, Parsa, Bara, Chitwan, Nawalparasi, and Dhanusha and transporting them via alternative routes to distribute LP gas.
On September 3, the association issued a statement requesting all gas industries marketing LP gas in the Kathmandu Valley to distribute gas at no more than the total amount of NPR 2,165.38, which includes NPR 105.38 as transportation fare added to the corporation-set price of NPR 2,060 per cylinder.
Meanwhile, with the opening of an alternative track on the blocked road section and transportation resuming, LP gas bullets have also started arriving in Kathmandu, removing the compulsion for gas industries operating in the Kathmandu Valley to bring gas via alternative routes. Therefore, the association has urged distribution of gas at previous prices.
