Kathmandu. The government has started printing driving licenses through the Electronic Driving License and Vehicle Registration System (EDLVRS) implemented from Shrawan 1.
The Department of Transport Management under the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Development has initiated printing through the new system to address the pressure of service seekers and the long-standing license printing problem. The new system will make the process of obtaining new licenses and renewing old ones faster, easier, and more service-oriented.
The details of service seekers uploaded in EDLVRS will directly reach Security Printing, which will print the licenses and send them via postal service to the concerned Transport Management Service Office. This will resolve the old problem seen in license printing and distribution.
In the first phase, 3,081 driving licenses from Madhesh Province have been printed and sent via postal service to the concerned Transport Management Service Office for distribution. There is a provision allowing the concerned provincial government to sign an agreement with Security Printing and print licenses themselves. Accordingly, the Madhesh Province government has signed an agreement with Security Printing and is printing licenses under its own management.
Similarly, the Lumbini Province government also signed an agreement with Security Printing on Friday and started printing driving licenses.
In case a provincial government has not signed an agreement with Security Printing, arrangements have been made for license printing in coordination between the Department of Transport Management and Security Printing, keeping in mind the pressure of service seekers and the problem.
After the start of license printing through the new system, arrangements have been implemented to manage the printing responsibility according to each province and provide driving licenses to service seekers easily, quickly, and on time.
