Iran's IRGC Strikes Seven 'Violating' Oil Tankers in Strait of Hormuz Over Five Days
Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) navy has targeted at least seven oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz over the past five days, according to semi-official Fars news agency. The strikes come despite U.S. President Donald Trump's claims that the waterway is open and under American control, with Kuwaiti and UAE-flagged vessels among those reportedly hit.
TEHRAN, Oct 4 — The navy of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) has targeted at least seven "violating" oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz over the past five days, the semi-official Fars news agency reported Saturday.
According to the report, the IRGC Navy has struck more than one oil tanker each day, despite repeated claims by U.S. President Donald Trump that "the Strait of Hormuz is open and under his country's control."
Citing MenchOsint, an independent military observer, Fars added that two oil tankers were struck on Friday — one at the waterway's entrance and the other while exiting it.
MenchOsint also reported that the following vessels were hit in the strait over the previous four days:
- Al FUNTAS and KAZIMAH III — two Kuwaiti tankers
- SINBAD, MERSIN PROSPERITY, and AL RUWAIS — three United Arab Emirates vessels
Iran tightened its grip on the Strait of Hormuz on Feb. 28, barring safe passage of vessels belonging to or affiliated with Israel and the United States following their joint strikes on Iranian territory.
