Heavy rainfall likely in the hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki today
According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces this afternoon. The country is under the partial influence of monsoon and westerly winds.
Kathmandu . The Meteorological Forecasting Division under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has stated that the country is currently under the partial influence of monsoon winds as well as westerly winds. The monsoon trough is positioned to the south of its average location, according to the Division.
At present, the Himalayan and hilly regions of the country, including Lumbini Province, are generally cloudy, while the remaining Terai region is partly cloudy. Light to moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning is occurring at a few places in Bagmati Province and at one or two places in Koshi, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces.
This afternoon, the Himalayan and hilly regions of the country will be generally cloudy, while the Terai region will be partly cloudy. There is a possibility of moderate rainfall/snowfall with thunder and lightning at some places in the Himalayan and hilly regions of the country.
Similarly, there is a possibility of moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning at one or two places in the Terai region of the country. The Division has stated that there is a possibility of heavy rainfall at one or two places in the hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.
Tonight, the Himalayan and hilly regions of the country will be generally cloudy, while the Terai region will be partly cloudy. There is a possibility of moderate rainfall/snowfall with thunder and lightning at a few places in the Himalayan regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Karnali provinces, and at one or two places in the Himalayan regions of Lumbini and Sudurpashchim provinces.
At night, rainfall is likely in the following locations:
