Government to Introduce 27 New Laws This Year for Economic Reforms
Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle has said that preparations are underway to introduce 27 new laws this year for economic reforms. He informed that the work of repealing old acts and drafting new laws has been initiated.
Kathmandu — The government is preparing to introduce 27 new laws this year for economic reforms. Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle gave this information while addressing a workshop on the preparations for the Nepal Infrastructure Conference 2026.
Finance Minister Wagle said that after becoming Finance Minister, he initiated the work of repealing old acts and drafting new laws. He said, "Within half an hour of becoming Finance Minister, I repealed 15 old acts. We will bring 27 new laws in the budget this year."
He added, "We are currently chasing ministries for 27 laws that will support budget reforms and economic reforms."
Wagle said that the government has also advanced the issue of law amendment that the private sector has been raising for a long time. He said, "CNI said to amend 28 laws and we will bring Ramrajya. The Chamber of Commerce and Industry had talked about 42 laws a few years ago."
He further said, "Our Law Minister, saying that this is too few, surpassed everyone with 166 laws, and out of that, 54 have already been passed by the Cabinet."
