Former Army Chief Rana recommended as ambassador to the UK
The government has recommended former Chief of Army Staff Gaurav Shumsher Jung Bahadur Rana as Nepal's ambassador to the United Kingdom. With this decision by Friday's Cabinet meeting, ambassadors have been recommended for 13 countries, including India, China, and the United States.
Kathmandu. The government has recommended former Chief of Army Staff Gaurav Shumsher Jung Bahadur Rana as Nepal's ambassador to the United Kingdom. The decision was made at a Cabinet meeting held on Friday.
Rana served in the Nepali Army for more than four decades, completing his tenure as Chief of Army Staff from 2012 to 2015. He directed the integration of former Maoist combatants into the Nepali Army in accordance with the Comprehensive Peace Agreement.
His key contributions as Chief of Army Staff include:
- Implementation of the Army's '10-Year Long-Term Plan'
- Enforcement of the 'Military Doctrine 2013'
- Leadership of 'Operation Sankat Mochan' after the 2015 earthquake
- Coordination of the participation of 18 foreign military teams in relief efforts
In the same meeting, ambassadors have been recommended for 13 countries, including India, China, and the United States.
