Flood halts Sayapatri Hydropower's 2.5 MW project, power generation and transmission fully disrupted
The 2.5 MW Darma Khola A hydropower project operated by Sayapatri Hydropower in Tarakhola, Baglung, has been completely shut down due to flooding. The company said power generation and transmission have been halted since the night of Ashoj 9 after the flood damaged poles and wires of the 33 kV transmission line. With communication towers also down, contact with staff at the project site has not been possible.
Kathmandu. Power generation and transmission at the 2.5 MW Darma Khola A Hydropower Project, operated by Sayapatri Hydropower Limited in Tarakhola Rural Municipality of Baglung district, have been completely disrupted due to flooding.
According to the company, the flood in the Darma Khola on Friday, Ashoj 9, damaged the poles and wires of the 33 kV transmission line running from the project's switchyard to the Harichaur substation of the Nepal Electricity Authority.
The company said that after the flood damaged the structures, power generation and transmission at the project have been completely shut down since 11 PM on Ashoj 9.
In addition to the disruption of electricity service due to the flood, communication towers in Tarakhola Rural Municipality have also been down since 11 PM on Ashoj 10. The company said that because Nepal Telecom and other communication services are disrupted, contact with staff at the project site has not been possible so far.
The company is yet to provide further details on the extent of damage to the project and the timeline for resuming operations.
