Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle to Embark on Three-Day India Visit
Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle is departing for New Delhi on Thursday for a three-day visit at the invitation of the Indian government. The Cabinet meeting has approved the visit. During the trip, he will hold meetings with his Indian counterpart Nirmala Sitharaman, Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, and others.
Kathmandu — Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle is set to embark on a three-day visit to India at the invitation of the Indian government. The Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday approved his visit to India.
He will depart for New Delhi, the capital of India, on Thursday, leading a six-member delegation. Officials from the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be part of the delegation.
According to the Ministry of Finance, the primary objective of the visit is to foster cooperation across various dimensions of economic, political, and diplomatic issues between the two countries, including post-disaster reconstruction.
According to the visit itinerary:
- Thursday, 5 PM: Meeting with Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman
- Friday: Meeting with Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar
- Friday: Participation as chief guest at a high-level diplomatic dialogue program organized by former Foreign Secretary Shyam Saran
- Friday: Participation in a large-scale networking event organized by Javed Ashraf, Chairman of the India Trade Promotion Organisation
- Saturday morning: Participation as keynote speaker at a conference with prominent industrial houses organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry
- Saturday afternoon: Participation as chief guest at an academic discussion on development economics organized by the Delhi School of Economics
Finance Minister Dr. Wagle is scheduled to return to Nepal on Saturday evening.
