Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle Departs for Three-Day India Visit, to Meet Nirmala Sitharaman
Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle has departed for New Delhi on a three-day visit at the invitation of the Indian government. During the visit, he will hold talks with Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, and other senior officials on economic, political, and diplomatic cooperation.
Kathmandu — Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle departed for New Delhi on Thursday morning on a three-day visit at the invitation of the Indian government. He left Kathmandu on a flight at 7:35 AM.
The main objective of the visit is to enhance cooperation on various dimensions of economic, political, and diplomatic relations between the two countries, including post-disaster reconstruction. Finance Minister Wagle is leading a six-member delegation, which includes officials from the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
On the first day of the visit, Thursday evening at 5 PM, Finance Minister Wagle will hold a meeting with his Indian counterpart, Nirmala Sitharaman.
According to Friday's schedule, Finance Minister Wagle will meet Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar. On the same day, he will participate as the chief guest at a high-level diplomatic dialogue program organized by former Indian Foreign Secretary Shyam Saran.
Also on Friday, Finance Minister Wagle will attend a large networking event organized by Javed Ashraf, Chairman of the India Trade Promotion Organisation.
On Saturday morning, Finance Minister Wagle will participate as the keynote speaker at a conference with prominent industrial houses organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
On Saturday afternoon, Finance Minister Wagle will participate as the chief guest at an academic discussion on development economics organized by the Delhi School of Economics. He is scheduled to return to Nepal on Saturday evening.
