Dr. CK Raut Unopposed for Janmat Party Chair, 103 Candidates in Preliminary List
The Janmat Party has published a preliminary list of 103 candidates for its second national convention, including Dr. CK Raut for chairman. Raut is set to be elected unopposed, while other positions will be contested.
Kathmandu — The Janmat Party has published a preliminary list of 103 candidates, including Dr. CK Raut for chairman, for its second national convention. Rajesh Kumar Mandal, member-secretary of the party's central election committee, released the list on Friday.
According to the election committee, the list was published in the order of candidate registration and the sequence of forms received at the official email. In the convention to be held in Birgunj, only Raut has filed candidacy for the post of chairman.
Other positions will see contests:
- Seven vice-chair posts: 14 candidates
- One general secretary: three candidates
- One national deputy general secretary: two candidates
- Seven national secretaries: 10 candidates
- Central executive members: 73 candidates
Candidates for vice-chair include Basanta Kumar Kushwaha, Anita Sah, Anita Mandal, Dr. Jayakant Raut, Narendra Prasad Chaudhary, Madhav Prasad Singh, Raj Kumar Yadav (Tyagi), Dr. Kamrullah Ansari, Sanjay Kumar Mishra, Madnesh Kumar Chaudhary, Parmeshwar Murmu, Roshan Khatun, Harpal Singh Sodi, and Manohari Devi Baitha.
For general secretary, Mamata Jha, Chandan Kumar Singh, and Sanjay Kumar Yadav are candidates, while Nirmal Kumar Mandal and Lalit Chandra Mallik are running for national deputy general secretary. For national secretary, the election committee said Santosh Kumar Sahani, Surendra Sharma Madhesi, Harendra Chaudhary, Anjani Devi, Rohit Mahato, Paras Prasad Sah, Radha Kumari Yadav, Bal Govinda Chaudhary, Birendra Mahato (Jeevan Tyagi), and Ram Babu Sah have filed candidacies.
The period for filing claims and objections against candidates is set from 10 AM to 5 PM on Saturday, Ashoj 3. Candidates can withdraw their candidacies from 10 AM to 5 PM on Sunday, Ashoj 4.
The final list of candidates will be published on Monday, Ashoj 5. The central executive committee meeting will be held on Friday, Ashoj 9, and the second national convention and voting will take place on Saturday, Ashoj 10, according to the election committee. To be elected from the convention, a candidate must secure at least 20 percent of the votes cast.
