Dollar exchange facility for citizens going abroad for treatment doubled
Nepal Rastra Bank has doubled the annual US dollar exchange limit for citizens traveling abroad for medical treatment from USD 15,000 to USD 30,000, following an increase in foreign exchange reserves. This facility can be used for purchasing medicines and medical equipment.
Kathmandu. Nepal Rastra Bank has doubled the US dollar exchange facility for citizens traveling abroad for medical treatment, following an increase in foreign exchange reserves. Amending the unified directive issued to banks and financial institutions, the central bank has arranged to provide such facility up to USD 30,000 annually.
Previously, the exchange facility was available only up to USD 15,000 annually. According to the amended provision, citizens traveling abroad for treatment can now exchange up to USD 30,000 annually for purchasing medicines and medical equipment.
With foreign exchange reserves increasing, Nepal Rastra Bank has relaxed the exchange facility. This is expected to help reduce the financial burden on Nepali citizens traveling abroad for treatment and facilitate easier access to medical care.
