Khagendra Raj Kandel (Rabin), General Secretary of the Nepal Share Market Investors Association, has alleged that the Ministry of Finance and related bodies are collaborating only with a limited group of individuals and interest groups regarding the share market. Speaking at a meeting of the Finance Committee under the House of Representatives, Kandel said that this very trend has created the current state of Nepal's share market.
He stated that a strong, timely law is necessary to make the capital market organized, transparent, reliable, and investment-friendly. Noting that the capital market is being operated based on the law of 2063 BS and old directives, he emphasized the need to introduce new and amended laws in line with international practices.
Kandel said that a specialized act related to the Securities Board is necessary to clarify the regulator's authority and protect investors' interests.
