Constitution Day: Grand ceremony at Tundikhel, President and Prime Minister among high-ranking officials attend
On the occasion of the completion of a decade since the promulgation of Nepal's Constitution, Constitution Day and National Day were celebrated across the country on Saturday. The main ceremony was held at Tundikhel, where high-ranking officials including the President, Prime Minister, Vice President, Chief Justice, Speaker, and National Assembly Chair were present.
Kathmandu — On the occasion of the completion of a decade since the promulgation of Nepal's Constitution, Constitution Day and National Day were celebrated across the country on Saturday with various programs.
On Ashoj 3, 2072 BS, Nepal's Constitution was promulgated by the Constituent Assembly. Every year on Ashoj 3, Constitution Day and National Day are celebrated to commemorate the day the Constitution was promulgated, which institutionalized a federal democratic republic, secularism, inclusiveness, fundamental rights, and a federal governance system.
This year's main ceremony was held at Tundikhel. President Ram Chandra Paudel, Prime Minister Balendra Shah, Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav, the Chief Justice, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Chair of the National Assembly, and other heads of constitutional bodies and high-ranking officials attended the ceremony.
At the ceremony, teams from the Nepali Army, Nepal Police, and Armed Police Force presented a march past. Students and various cultural groups gave tableaux and cultural performances. The performances conveyed a message about the importance of the Constitution, national unity, and the democratic governance system.
On the occasion of Constitution Day, the President, Prime Minister, and leaders of political parties issued greetings and called on all sides to move forward responsibly for the effective implementation of the Constitution, protection of democratic values and norms, national unity, and economic prosperity.
