Commercial banks earn Rs 8.73 billion in Shrawan; Nabil tops, Nepal SBI at bottom
In the first month of the current fiscal year 2083/84, 20 commercial banks collectively earned a net profit of Rs 8.73 billion, up 4.23% compared to the same period last year. Nabil Bank emerged as the highest profit earner, while Nepal SBI Bank ranked at the bottom.
Kathmandu — According to data released today by Nepal Rastra Bank, 20 commercial banks earned a total profit of Rs 8 billion 73 crore 72 lakh in Shrawan, the first month of the current fiscal year 2083/84.
In Shrawan of the previous fiscal year 2081/82, these banks had earned Rs 8 billion 38 crore 29 lakh in profit. Compared to the previous year, the banks' profit increased by 4.23 percent during the review period.
According to the data, Nabil Bank is the highest profit earner, while Agricultural Development Bank leads in terms of growth rate. During the review period, the profit of 13 commercial banks increased, while that of 7 banks declined.
Top profit-earning banks:
- Nabil Bank: Rs 88 crore 31 lakh (previous year Rs 71 crore 64 lakh, 23.28% growth)
- Global IME Bank: Rs 81 crore 36 lakh (previous year Rs 78 crore 45 lakh, 3.70% decline)
- Nepal Investment Mega Bank: Rs 73 crore 44 lakh (previous year Rs 63 crore 42 lakh, 15.80% growth)
- Kumari Bank: Rs 54 crore 70 lakh (previous year Rs 49 crore 24 lakh, 11.10% growth)
- Rastriya Banijya Bank: Rs 52 crore 39 lakh (previous year Rs 55 crore 83 lakh, 6.15% decline)
The bank with the lowest profit during the review period is Nepal SBI Bank, which earned a profit of Rs 17 crore 59 lakh.
In terms of growth rate, Agricultural Development Bank's profit surged by an extraordinary 10,254.40 percent. The bank earned Rs 38 crore 82 lakh in Shrawan.
