Book launch of play 'Mandavi' marks start of stage performances

The book was launched at a program held at a theatre in Thapagaun. At the launch event, Dr. Kanchhi Maharjan, Associate Professor at Tribhuvan University, said that the theme of co-existence raised by 'Mandavi' is important for social development.
Jit Bahadur Deuja 'Bijay Visphot', council member and scholar at the Nepal Music and Drama Academy, commented that it is a highly experimental play.
Viewing 'Mandavi' merely as a story would limit its depth. It is a sensitive document of our time, where a person questions their own life's pace, relationships, and existence.
Upon entering Mandavi's world, the audience will not just see the story of a character; they may encounter some familiar shadows of their own time, their own relationships, and their own inner selves. The silence, light, and body movements seen on stage will themselves become dialogue.
Emotions that words cannot express will be conveyed through acting, scenes, and sound.
The beauty of the play lies in the complexity hidden within its simplicity. Extraordinary questions are born within seemingly ordinary moments of life. Mandavi is the theatrical echo of those very questions—where time does not merely pass, but lives on within a person.
The acting presented by the artists in the play 'Mandavi' has succeeded in connecting the audience with the emotional landscape of the story. Nilima Pandey's performance in the role of Mandavi appears powerful and impressive. Sanskriti Ban has been particularly presented in the role of Sakambari.
Tirsana Rai, in the role of Sum nima, leads the audience through Sum nima's temporal journey through her acting. Similarly, Bhishma Raj Joshi's energetic performance in the role of Pinjada is noteworthy.
The performances of Rusha Shrestha, Eban Raj Upreti, Santosh Bista, and Kiran Chapagain have also made the production lively. The collective acting, emotional expression, and stage presence of the artists have made 'Mandavi' more impactful.
'Mandavi' will be staged regularly from Ashoj 1 to Ashoj 14, except Tuesdays. The organizers have informed that an additional show has been scheduled at 1 PM on Saturdays. The price of the play's book is Rs. 250, and tickets can be obtained online as well as from the theatre itself.
