Bagmati Province to Cut 134 Positions, Retain 180 Offices
The Bagmati Province government has approved the O&M survey framework, deciding to reduce 134 positions out of 4,814. The cabinet also approved 24 temporary positions for the problematic cooperative management committee.
Kathmandu — The Bagmati Province government has approved the framework for the Organization and Management (O&M) survey of offices and bodies under the province, deciding to cut 134 positions from the currently sanctioned strength.
The provincial cabinet meeting held on Thursday decided to retain the number of offices under the province at 180 and to reduce the existing 4,814 positions to 4,680.
Province government spokesperson and Minister for Physical Infrastructure Development Bharat Bahadur KC, announcing the decision after the cabinet meeting, said the framework required for the O&M survey was approved and that 134 positions would be reduced accordingly.
The meeting also approved 24 temporary positions, from member secretary to office assistant, for the problematic cooperative management committee of Bagmati Province. Minister KC said arrangements have been made for those temporary positions to be automatically terminated once the committee's work is completed.
The cabinet meeting approved the resignation of Niranjan Shrestha, a 11th-level employee and head of the Provincial Forest Service Center under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Forests and Environment, spokesperson KC said.
