111 companies await IPO approval, over Rs 70 billion public offerings in SEBON pipeline
A total of 111 companies are awaiting IPO approval in the pipeline of the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON), with the total amount reaching Rs 70.64 billion. Hydropower leads in number of companies, while manufacturing and processing dominate in terms of value.
The pressure for IPO approvals at the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) is mounting. As the board takes time to grant approvals, the number of companies seeking IPO permission continues to rise.
According to the latest SEBON data, the number of companies in the pipeline has reached 111. These companies from various sectors have sought permission to issue a total of 49.05 million shares. The total IPO amount in the pipeline stands at Rs 70.64 billion.
In terms of sectoral distribution, hydropower companies lead by number, while the manufacturing and processing sector dominates by value.
- Manufacturing and processing: 32 companies, 17.41 million shares, total amount Rs 35.71 billion. This group includes companies related to cement, steel, pharmaceuticals, and other industrial products.
- Hydropower: 34 companies, 16.83 million shares, total amount Rs 17.19 billion.
- Hotels and tourism: 18 companies, 5.82 million shares, total amount Rs 6.45 billion.
- Other sectors: 15 companies, 5.09 million shares, total amount Rs 6.13 billion.
Thus, companies in the pipeline are seeking SEBON approval to raise capital from the general public. Delays in approval could affect investors' opportunities to purchase new shares.
